“I would truly tell you, and anyone who asks, that my time in Little Rock was absolutely life changing! Every aspect of my time was handled so incredibly well. Derek is also such a great person and therapist. I was most worried about being able to connect with someone quickly and effectively. Derek was a perfect fit. I can’t express my appreciation enough.”
Ben – age 37, North Carolina
In 2011, I graduated from seminary and then worked as a youth pastor for five years. From my vantage point as a pastor, I saw the need for quality professional therapy and decided to pursue a career in counseling. When you walk through the therapist’s door, you expect to be given the tools you need to accomplish this change. Good therapy is more than “What do you want to talk about today?” It’s more than just talk therapy. You need to work with a therapist who has the right tools to dig deep and do some heavy lifting, and that is what I offer.
My specialized training includes Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Certified Partner Betrayal Trauma (CPTT), Brainspotting, EMDR, Family Systems Trauma (FST), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I treat a wide variety of trauma including: childhood trauma, sexual abuse trauma, partner betrayal trauma, attachment trauma, and more. I have experience working with children as young as 11 years old, adolescents, and adults.
I particularly enjoy work with clients in a 1, 2, or 3-day intensive as they begin to peel back the layers and discover childhood trauma and how it affects them as adults today. This is one of my sweet spots!
Therapy should involve every aspect of your being–mental, physical, and spiritual, and by integrating these therapy approaches, I can help you find hope and healing. You have the capacity for positive change. My job is to help guide you towards discovery, transformation, and healing that will result in the change you want and need.
