Therapy for Children
A developmentally tailored, supportive process that helps children express feelings, build coping skills, and improve emotional well-being.
We provide play therapy for children ages 3-12. We utilize non-directed and directed play therapy. Chick the link to learn how we do this by using Play Therapy.
When you come the The Finding Place Counseling for your first intake session, we will likely meet with just the parent(s). Then, at the second session, we will meet your kiddo! They will be welcomed into our dedicated play therapy room, complete with all kinds of toys including: dress ups for boys and girls, nerf guns, a puppet show tent, a toy kitchen, a toy art studio, beach balls, bubbles, a doll house, and more!
Play therapy works because play is a natural and essential part of a child’s development—it is how children express themselves, process experiences, and learn about the world. Since young children often lack the abstract thinking and verbal skills needed to express complex thoughts and emotions, play becomes their primary language. Through symbolic play, children can communicate feelings, solve problems, and work through challenges in a way that feels safe and manageable. Play therapy builds trust, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills while supporting brain development, creativity, and social connection—all in a way that aligns with how children naturally learn and grow.
